WMU Signature

WMU Signature is a student engagement program for students to reflect on their out-of-class learning experiences, to explore and identify a passion, that will be reflected on their WMU diploma. During Spring 2020, with support of WMU Signature program, I managed to work on a pathway focusing on diversity and inclusion and sharing reflections on "Supporting Afghan Women in Leadership Positions in Afghanistan." In this project, I talked about the reason why there are not so many Afghan women leaders in Afghanistan. I also talked about two simple solutions that can help Afghan women to be motivated and go for leadership positions in different sectors such as education, politics, arts, economic, in Afghanistan.

Office of Students Engagement (OSE)

Again, during Spring 2020, I also worked with Office of Students Engagement. During this time, I helped the office with creating their strategic planning, and helping them through their events, etc.

In addition, I managed to bring both the Office of Students Engagement and the international students activities office to come together and work on mutual project with the purpose of bringing domestic and international students together to learn from each other, appreciate the differences and make connections.

International Students Activities Office (ISA)

During Spring 2020, I worked in Office of International Students Activities. This was one of the best experiences I have ever had. During this time, I helped the office with their event planning and activities. Some of these events were International Student Orientation, Monthly Global Hop, and International Festival. I also managed to initiate a project between office of students engagement and international students activities office with the focus on bringing domestic and international students together. The goal of this project was to help both international and domestic students learn from one another, appreciate the differences, and make connections. This project called Global Ball.

Center for Academic Success/ Exploratory Advising

During Summer 2019, I had the opportunity to work with Exploratory Advising. I learned to work with first year students and help them through choosing their courses, registration process, choosing adviser for them through Banner and Cogno System. I managed to work for 300 hours in this department, and it made me to be even more interested to learn more about Exploratory Advising by self- study.

I also had the opportunity to work on a small assessment project in order to evaluate why some of the first year students did better in their classes during the Fall 2018 than their peers in other sections.
